Street Style: The Satorialist

The original documenter of street style The Satorialist has been busy photographing the most stylish cities in the world. Never straying far from home, he always returns to New York where there is never a shortage of stylish women sashaying in this season’s (and next) hottest trends. Though all his fashion picks/photos are inspiring, nothing delights me more than seeing the spring and summer outfits that are starting to pop up all over place. Just today I noticed a woman in D.C. dressed in a crisp, sleeveless, white shirt; a high-waisted navy A-line skirt; a brown leather belt wrapped high around her waist and 3 inch tan sandals – she looked fly and knew it! Above and in the slide below are some of the Satorialists' traffic-stopping sistas.

Daily Ensemble for 09.06.2007

Since I currently have nothing interesting to blog about, and I haven't done a daily ensemble in coon's age, that's all I'm submitting for today.

09.06.2007

Everything is vintage except for the shoes, they were on clearance at Wal-Mart (shudder). I'm pretty sure this dress was made for me, it fits gloriously. The waistband and the stripes around the bottom have little white polka dots on them, neat-o burrito. :] I thrifted this beaut for a piddly $2 because there was a tiny stain on the white part, which came right out in the wash! Yes, the thrift gods are good to me.

The bag is vintage Nine West from the flea market and was a mere $2, it seemed to beckon to me from beneath a pile of hideous and highly tacky bags.

I wore this to the mall and my friend's house, and I've discovered that I have to re-learn to walk in heels, apparently you can forget how to do so.

I think this outfit was inspired by June Carter Cash. I've been watching Walk the Line too much.

Kim Loves Her Junk

“I just can’s stop eating junk food,” Kim Kardashian shares to People Magazine, “It's so hard to eat well because I love so many unhealthy foods.”

Since it’s hard to curb her love for junk, Kim relies on exercise to keep her bootylicious figure in shape. I've got a personal trainer who keeps me active," the 27-year-old says, "I work my butt and legs just about every day, and I do cardio to burn fat.”

But not to worry, boyfriend Reggie Bush loves Kim curvy body and all. “He doesn't care what I eat," says Kardashian. "He loves me just the way I am."

Rating: 2

The Kardashian uniform: push-up strapless bustier dress in the worst possible design + an evening bag that doesn’t match + high heels + tousled hair.

We know you’re sisters but you don’t have to be all matchy-matchy. And you guys are not fooling anyone. We know you’re just wearing the same thing.

Natalie Portman Wears Ugly Wayfarer Ray-Bans

Natalieportmanrayban

The appearance of Wayfarer Ray-Bans on celebrities, or anyone else, has not left me grinning.

These sunglasses did not look good on Tom Cruise in the movie Rain Man and they do not look good on Natalie Portman or Keira Knightley now.

It seems that the 80’s made a comeback a few years ago and is currently trying to butt its little head back into fashion.

You can see 80’s punk inspiration popping up all over T-shirts, sunglasses and jeans with the help of super models like Agyness Deyn, celebrities and individualistic designers.

In some cases retro punk can look fabulous but when I start seeing these ridiculous Ray- Bans, I am not happy.

These style of glasses have only looked good on one person and that was Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The Radness of Rad

Radhouraninyc

I rarely get intimidated by labels in the way that some people might say so-and-so is not wearable or they're too niche. Those that push the boundaries and go for the risque will eternally intrigue me. However, there are those that have a 'cool air' about them that will make me think 'Oooh-er....me thinks I'm just not cool enough for this...'. Rad Hourani is one of those designers. Of course, the fact that Rad's work had the 'cool' is no bad thing. His AW08-9 collection (shown in New York) which like his debut SS08 one in Paris shows that he is intent on sticking to a signature and being forceful with it. It's an aesthetic that isn't going to be everyone's taste but having Rad Hourani isn't an 'everyman's' sort of designer. Leather, a strict palette, skinny legs, volume that is not for frou-frou purposes but for creating sharp shapes and fine detailing.

Immediately, certain bloggers come to mind but niche style aside, for the schizophrenic stylees such as myself, I'd be eager to take apart the very specific silhouettes that Rad has beautifully created and translate the pieces into something that is a little less 'cool'... only coz I never had the 'cool' to begin with...
